For a glamorous holiday in the Western Cape, where you will be surrounded by vineyards and nothing but luxury, look no further than Steenberg Hotel & Spa.
The Decor & Property
Steenberg Hotel & Spa is a luxury boutique hotel, with individually styled rooms. Of the several room styles available, there is certainly something for everyone, whether you seek a weekend away in old- world charm, a family vacation, or something modern and romantic.
The decor as you step into all of the available rooms onsite has a common thread of sophistication and copious amounts of grandeur.
The property has sprawling grassy areas with pretty plants like lavender running around the edges. Carefully dotted trees mark the lawns, as well as bright, colourful sculptures which can be spotted throughout the property. The architecture housing the accommodation is true to its history in traditional style Cape Dutch style, although it is only the Manor House, which brings the history inside and has been restored and declared a Provincial Heritage Site
The colour palette is cool and neutral, and what really sparkles are the details, all of which are top of the line. The white ceilings have black beams running across them and in the middle of the rooms is a chandelier. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are spectacular, allowing you to sit back and simply relax. Most of the rooms provide access to private spaces, such as a patio, an entire lawn, or a private pool, many with views of the vineyards, which are in very close proximity.
The pool is one of true magnificence: painted in a dreamy blue hue, it makes the water gleam, complete with a fountain and a backdrop of trees that whistle in the wind. The area is surrounded by deck chairs and umbrellas – rest assured, you won’t want to leave this spot; in fact, you can even have your nail treatments done in full view of this area. Should guests be tempted to move from their rooms or the on-site pool and sun lawn, there are plenty of activities awaiting them. One can cycle around the property on the readily available bikes, head out on a hiking trail, visit the nearby Virgin Active, for which there are vouchers and transfers available. Of course, there is also wine tasting and the Spa on-site.
Situated at the start of the Constantia Wine Route, guests are in for a treat. As you arrive at the property, the scene is set with vines on either side of the road leading to the hotel. It is at this point when serenity that’ll emanate during your stay sinks in. Then, it’s just a matter of pulling up to the hotel guest entrance, and the rest is taken of for you.
The location is idillicidyllic, situated among the vines and surrounded by the mountain-scapes of the Constantiaberg amphitheatre of the Table Mountain range. The level of tranquility is especially surprising when one considers that it is a mere thirty- minute drive from Cape Town, making this the perfect break from the city, or indeed a great base for a Western Cape adventure. Guests will enjoy the finest hospitality, with exquisite cuisine, an award-winning winery and an 18-hole championship golf course just a stroll away.
Culinary mastery is on offer to guests at Bistro Sixteen82 and Tryn. Bistro Sixteen82 is home to gardens, plush interiors that exude warmth and open up onto the patio. The menu offers seasonal cuisine for breakfast, lunch and evening tapas. This is a popular option for visitors to the property too, who pop in to taste what has been rated among the best restaurants in the area.
Tryn has plush seating set among ruby and jade walls, with a large windows large window looking onto the water features outside. Other materials that set the scene are timber and stone, complimented by burnt orange and mustard tones in the soft furnishings. This is where guests can enjoy breakfast (although guests are welcome to enjoy breakfast in bed should they wish to do so), as well as fine dining for dinner, where the best ingredients meet culinary expertise, creating an evening of food that you’ll remember long after the experience.
