Life is Better at the Marly

If someone asked you to imagine the best vantage point in Cape Town, where does your mind wander to? Well, The Marly Boutique Hotel has recently reopened its doors to guests, offering a completely new vantage point from which to fall in love with the city.

The Camp’s Bay strip is famous for its palm-tree lined streets, with a range of restaurants on the one side and white, sandy beaches on the other. Many of the best restaurants you’ll find are under the umbrella of the Kove Collection. There are several options, taking you from breakfast through to brunches, lunches, dinners and drinks in between.

The Marly has a spa which is open to the public. There are all of the usual treatment options available, and one can expect the highest levels of luxury across the options. I opted for a massage and was blown away by the experience. To begin with, you choose the lighting in your treatment room. The next step involves the masseur guiding you through various scents. You will then select one which you like most, and which will form the fragrance base of the oils used. The massage then begins, where all of your worries that have manifested in physical tension are melted away.

The room numbers are written on cards outside your room door – held by a sculptured hand. When you walk in, you enter into a white dream of clouds. There are literally white and grey clouds on the wall behind the bed, which extends upwards to the ceiling. They are illuminated by hidden lights at the borders. Every care to go the extra mile is taken, from the plush bedding to the comfortable chairs. The room is fit with a TV and mini lounge area. The rooms have balconies, with either a mountain or sea view. When it comes to ordering in, the cheesecake is highly recommended.

The highlight of a visit to The Marly is, of course, the rooftop. It is here where there is a glass pool, overlooking the ocean. From here, there is no visible road that separates you from the seas, simply a couple of palm trees. Sit and relax in the in-pool loungers, swim with mountain right behind you and simply bask in the sunshine and views. Drinks can be ordered, and tanning is recommended. Sunsets from here are a no-brainer.

Visit any one of the Kove Collection restaurants for dinner – we opted for the newly opened Surfshack for dinner. Prawns and typical seaside dishes are served, though they are upscaled in taste and presentation, with a setting that remains comfortably casual. For breakfast, we went to Bilboa for a high-end breakfast worthy of of any bucket list. The cappuccinos are topped with cream and the benedicts are a real treat. The service is top-notch and there are a range of delicious juices and smoothies to select from too.

The Kove Collection

If you are looking to make your trip to Cape Town as memorable and sophisticated as can be, you need not look further than the Kove Collection. They are the holders of Cape Town’s best restaurants, bars and hotels, offering top end experiences that are second to none.

There is the much loved and rightfully hyped Chinchilla rooftop cafe and bar. Set along the dreamy Camps Bay strip, you’re faced with the ocean, as you lounge in bright pops of colour, matched with wooden accents. The music follows with the drinks – put simply: it’s a vibe.

For breakfasts and lunches, there is La Belle Bakery and Bistro. Pastries, fresh fruit, classic warm breakfasts and pancakes; one simply can’t go wrong. La Belle has a selection of fresh juices and smoothies, and are known and loved for their gourmet milkshakes.

That leaves the Kove Collections’s Camps Bay offerings, which are plentiful and equally delicious. Zenzero is all about Italian cuisine in a picturesque setting, while Bilboa offers Mediterranean dishes underneath umbrellas, Paranga is rustic Mediterranean in a flawless and warm open room.

Their four restaurants, though entirely unique, share more than their location in common. Each offer fine dining experiences in a relaxed atmosphere, celebrating the beauty that lies on its doorstep with unfettered views and wooden touches from within. The fresh ocean air is welcomed to the high ceilings, the contemporary finishes evident from the onset, giving visitors an experience along with their meal, which will linger in the mind long after the plates are cleared.

The Kove Collection’s vibrant restaurants, hotels and bars have all been created with the promise of outstanding hospitality at heart. There is a constant evolution of the sights, flavours, scents and sounds in every venue, delivering all-round, unparalleled excellence. Whenever you see the signature K symbol, you’ll know you’re about to enjoy truly spectacular.

For undoubtable luxury and unbeatable experiences, the Kove Collection offers guests and visitors alike the very best in hospitality and gastronomy. The Kove Collection is the epitome of Cape Town’s finest.
