Antrim Villa: A Guest House Experience in Green Point

Antrim Villas come in: the perfect guesthouse getaway, situated in the hub of what’s happening in Cape Town, with all of the charm you’d come to expect from a transformed farmhouse.

Antrim Villas have several rooms available to choose from, all housed in a renovated English Victorian farmhouse. It was built in the 1800s as a family residence. The feeling of family lives on at the guesthouse today, especially under the care of the General Manager, Terrence Duckitt. Mr. Duckitt personally sees to all of his guests, leading a wonderful crew of staff which make your trip that much more special. The house has been well maintained since its creation, providing a warm and charming oasis.

Staying at a guesthouse ensures you receive personalised service, which Antrim Villa offers guests by having service which is available to guests on a 24-hour basis should it be needed. They will go the extra mile in providing you with what you need, whether that be an airport transfer , a day trip, tickets to events or a spa treatment. Staying in Green Point is the perfect base, as it is sits at the foot of Signal Hill and is a mere 10-minute walk from both the Cape Town Stadium and the Atlantic Ocean.

The house stays true to its origins with its high ceilings and wooden floors. Throughout the guesthouse, this is honoured and accentuated with a neutral colour palette and natural textures. The house is painted white and lined with bamboo, providing the feel of a vacation with the ease of seclusion. You’ll be quick to forget that you’re in the city, though you will still enjoy all the benefits of being in the heart of it all.

Follow the bamboo-lined walls down the corridor and you’ll find the pool area. It is a space surrounded by greenery and lounge chairs, drenched in sublime sunlight. The swimming pool is saltwater, with an outside shower for your convenience. Guests are welcome to lounge around and of course take a dip at leisure.

Inside, the rooms are decorated to provide you with a feeling of a tropical African oasis. The neutral colour palette of the guesthouse extends in the rooms, with earthy tones and natural fabrics including sisal, linen and bamboo. Guests will find a booklet in their rooms with a selection of activities in and around the city, as well as restaurant recommendations. Guests at the villa enjoy fast, reliable WiFi connectivity, and are welcome to make use of the small library housed in the communal lounge.

There are 4 room types to suit all sorts of travellers: single rooms, twin rooms, double rooms and family double rooms. All of the rooms have amenities for their guests, including a hairdryer, some toiletries and a European plug point for travellers from afar.

There is a tea and coffee making station, which is equipped with fair trade products, as Antrim Villas prides itself on being eco-friendly. The rooms are all en-suite and have extra-length beds. The bedding is a treat, with 100% cotton sheets. The rooms have been decorated with the simplicity of Scandinavian style, though the African touches are evident throughout. This hybrid of influences is aimed at making the guests feel as comfortable – and at home – as possible.

Antrim Villas operate under the Fairtrade Label of South Africa, which serves the interests and rights of farmers, workers and producers in South Africa. In order to have the label, certain standards in responsible tourism need to be met. This forms part of a global network aimed at bettering society and the environment.

In the morning, all guests are treated to a homemade breakfast spread. This can be enjoyed in the communal lounge, the outside terrace or in your room if requested. There is a coffee machine for your caffeine fix, as well as a selection of teas and juices to drink. There is a continental offering of yogurts and fruits, as well as a chef who is ready to serve you with a smile, whipping up eggs to your liking. Antrim Villas have an honesty cupboard and fridge in the common areas, so guests are able to top up on snacks and beverages without fuss during their stay.
