Having officially opened its doors on 1 December 2018, The Onyx Hotel in Cape Town’s Foreshore brings with it sophistication, modern extravagance and all-round luxury. The Onyx forms part of an innovative, mixed-use building comprised of both residential apartments and hotel rooms. Situated in the heart of Cape Town, The Onyx is within walking distance of a number of restaurants and shops and is a mere 10 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront.
The Onyx is managed by the highly successful hotel management compay Newmark Hotels, Reserves and Lodges. Newmark specialise in boutique hospitality and have become an industry leader with a portfolio that boasts twelve boutique hotels and lodges throughout the country, including the Victoria and Alfred Hotel, the Queen Victoria Hotel and the award-winning Drostdy Hotel in Graaff-Reinet.
“We are thrilled to announce the addition of The Onyx to the Newmark Hotels portfolio. The foundation for all our investments has always been built on location. The recent facelift to the Foreshore has made the area a hotspot and the addition of the hotel adds a modern sophistication to the area,” says Neil Markovitz, MD of Newmark Hotels.“The Onyx is the product of outstanding team work -a property that I am immensely proud to have incorporated into Newmark’s Residences portfolio. We trust that The Onyx will continuously exceed guests’ expectations.”
Transformed under the creative guidance of one of the country’s leading architects, Robert Silke, the exteriors of The Onyx feature captivating curves and white aluminium-clad balconies, contrasted with slick black surfaces. The glossy black surfaces allude to the building’s namesake, onyx – a rare and striking gemstone, similar in appearance to black sapphire. In terms of interiors, the inside of The Onyx is equally alluring -guests are met with modern extravagance and sophisticated finishes.
Guests are welcomed into fully-equipped hotel rooms styled by celebrated interior decorator Francois du Plessis. Comprising of one hundred and two apartment-style hotel rooms, the Onyx boasts a minimalistic monochromatic decorative theme, with tasteful bursts of blue and turquoise. Within the hotel, guests have access to the bar, lounge, top-class gym facilities, spa and an indoor-outdoor swimming pool, allof which offer spectacular views of Table Mountain and the city.
Residents at The Onyx will not only call the building home, but will do so whilst enjoying all the perks that come with a hotel stay. Hotel services include 24-hour concierge services, housekeeping, dry cleaning and room service. Residential apartments range in size from studios of 35 square metres to expansive penthouses with private pools and roof gardens. The building has been designed so as to suite a multitude of different lifestyles and budgets, but regardless, all guests can bank on services and amenities usually only offered in luxury hotels.
All in all, The Onyx building is an all-rounder. Whether you’re in the market to buy property or are simply looking for a place to kick up your feet for a few days of luxury, The Onyx is a must. With everything one could need and want, you can bank on your expectations being met and exceeded.
