Getting married is very exciting but can also be one of the most stressful things ever in your life to arrange. Thankfully places like Vondeling Wines exist; here you can tick three big things off your wedding planning list. Not only do they provide you with a chapel to get married in, they also have a reception venue, as well as accommodation for up to 100 guests (at the farm itself, and in the surrounding areas).
The St. Clements Chapel looks like something from a fairy tale. Complete with locally made wooden pews for 100 guests and an organ that was made more than 40 years ago in Germany, this chapel is sure to make any bride’s dream of getting married where old meets new, true. With stained glass windows and a church bell too, you will definitely feel like you’re getting married in an old chapel somewhere magical.
Vondeling Wines also ensured that the transition from ceremony to reception is seamless. The chapel is just a stone throw away, conveniently located right next to the stunning reception venue.
The dining hall is open plan, full of light and features a high thatched roof that creates a highly coveted look in the world of wedding trends. There’s a fireplace to keep guests warm on the colder days and to add a distinctly cosy atmosphere. On warmer days the dining hall doors can be fully opened and the reception can be held on the shaded veranda that overlooks the magnificent Paardeberg Mountain. The subtle influences of Cape heritage mean that nostalgia, modernity and minimalism effortlessly come together to give the reception room a unique feel, and being on a wine farm, running out of wine is near impossible. Thankfully, all 100 guests can either stay in the farmhouse or in guest houses within a 10 km radius of the farm, so no one needs to drive far afterwards.
The farmhouse, which was originally built in 1740, is a prime example of the Cape Dutch architecture that was prevalent in that time. The house is classically styled and consists of seven luxurious en-suite bedrooms with mountain and garden views. Surrounding the house are peaceful gardens with shaded terraces and a 20-metre swimming pool. The house also boasts a secluded braai area, croquet court and a spotlit tennis court. There is also a fully equipped kitchen as well as a dining- and sitting room; complete with a cosy fireplace. Add to that, a communal area upstairs with a snooker table and DSTV with all the necessary plug-ins and Wi-Fi.
The farmhouse is the perfect place for the wedding party to prepare for the big day and get dressed up. The bride and her bridesmaids have plenty of light downstairs to prepare themselves while the groom and groomsmen can use the rooms upstairs with the communal area for inevitable nervous games of snooker, or a quick rugby match before the happy day starts. If that still isn’t enough, which we highly doubt, the resident Great Dane, Bella, is more than happy to make you feel at home and will happily accept love and food as payment.
